Summer in St. Vrain

As the countdown to summer winds down, students and teachers across the district are gearing up for camp season and it’s not too late to sign up. 
 
Performing arts, financial literacy and STEM camps are among the district’s summer programs that still have openings.

100 Mile Club

100 Mile Club begins on Wednesday, August 31st.  100 Mile Club will take place Monday-Thursday from 8:00-8:25 am on the field just south of the school.  Remember that Kindergarteners and Preschoolers will need an adult to walk with them.

Burlington Elementary principal to retire; Longmont charitable fund set up in her honor

After two decades in the job, Burlington Elementary School Principal Janis Hughes will be leaving her office for the last time on May 27 as she looks forward to a deserved retirement.

The popular principal was a classroom teacher and then dean of students at Niwot Elementary School prior to arriving at Burlington 20 years ago and, according to her, leaving coffee mugs all over the school.

We hope that you had a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!  We will be posting class lists on the front door of the school by 4:00 pm on Friday, August 14th.  Our annual open house for 1st-5th grade will happen on Monday, August 17th from 5:30-6:30.  Come and meet your student's new teacher, see your friends, pay for lunches and materials fees, sign up for Trailblazers and much much more!!  The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19th at 8:25 am.  If you have any questions, please call our office at 303-776-8861.

Twelve schools win awards in USDA HealthierUS School Challenge

The USDA and Colorado Department of Education Office of School Nutrition recently awarded 12 St. Vrain Valley schools with HealthierUS School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms (HUSSC: SL) Bronze Awards.

The HUSSC: SL is a certification initiative that recognizes schools for their efforts in improving food and beverage offerings, teaching kids about nutritious food choices, providing opportunities for physical activity, and having supportive school wellness policies.
