My name is Joan Maher and I have taught grades preschool to grade 5.  I enjoy all of the grades but my favorite grade to teach is first grade.  It is so exciting to watch the students learn to read and write.  I have two grown children who both work in book publishing. My husband and I love to spend our free time in the outdoors doing almost anything.  We love hiking, snorkeling, camping and biking.  My other hobbies include gardening and photography.
