Ms. Tyra grew up in DeWitt, Iowa and earned degrees in music education and music therapy from Wartburg College. She has been at Burlington since 2007 and has been working with kids all her life, including the times she has taught swimming lessons, voice lessons, music classes, drama classes, and preschool.  Ms. Tyra has two beautiful children. When she is not working at Burlington, she enjoys singing, acting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  What Ms. Tyra likes about what she does: "I love children. I can't imagine doing anything that didn't involve children in some way. Every day I am greeted with smiles and hugs…it just doesn't get any better than that."  Ms. Tyra has these words for the students of Burlington: "Thank you for making coming to work every day a joy!  Burlington students are very special, and I'm blessed to work with all of you!"
